We are a Myofascial Release practice in Ottawa focused on whole-body care.
We work with people who are often still dealing with pain, tension, or patterns that haven’t fully resolved with more direct or force-based approaches.
Our work is centred in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™, supported by other approaches when appropriate.
Rather than treating isolated symptoms, we follow patterns through the body—allowing the tissue time and space to respond.
Many people come to us after trying other approaches and still not feeling fully resolved. We recognize that when someone arrives after years of discomfort or frustration, they are not simply looking for symptom relief—they are looking to feel different in their body.
How Fascial Connections Began
Fascial Connections was founded by Registered Massage Therapist Tara Hagan-Fields in 2016, ten years into her own practice.
Over the decade that followed, Fascial Connections grew into a multidisciplinary clinic bringing together Registered Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy and Manual Osteopathy under a shared myofascial philosophy.
It became home to an incredible group of practitioners, each bringing their own knowledge, experience and perspective while sharing a commitment to thoughtful, whole-person care.
That chapter of Fascial Connections is something we are incredibly proud of.
Fascial Connections is Evolving
After ten years as a multidisciplinary clinic, Fascial Connections is intentionally becoming smaller and more focused.
As our practitioners move into new chapters of their own, Tara is bringing the focus of Fascial Connections back to her clinical practice and the work that has been at the centre of it from the beginning: Myofascial Release.
This evolution is also about sustainability.
The demand for Tara’s one-to-one care has continued to grow. Rather than simply trying to fit more appointments into an already full schedule, she is beginning to create other opportunities for existing patients to learn about this work, explore self-treatment, and develop greater awareness of their own bodies.
The goal is not simply to provide treatment, but to help people become more active participants in their own care and give them tools they can use beyond the treatment room.
Fascial Connections is also beginning to expand how this work is shared beyond human care, with continued education and development in Canine and Equine Myofascial Release.
The shape of Fascial Connections is changing, but what sits at its centre is not.
We remain committed to curiosity, ongoing learning, thoughtful care, and seeing the body as a whole—physical, emotional and mental—with all of our experiences and inputs contributing to how we adapt.
Tara’s Experience with Myofascial Release
Clinic owner Tara Hagan-Fields shares this about her own experience with Myofascial Release:
“Since beginning with John F. Barnes Myofascial Release, I have learned so much; felt so much. I am more open to allowing, accepting and even encouraging what the body is quietly communicating.
Today, my practice is centered Myofascial Release Therapy. I work with many individuals who are looking for help where traditional approaches have not been successful.
Can restrictions in diaphragm and pelvis impact shoulder mechanics? Absolutely.
Can trauma, even from so long ago, continue to influence the body? Absolutely.
We are able to identify these patterns because our understanding of the body is as a connected fascial system. Fascia connects everything.
Where we feel our pain is not often the source of it. The bigger picture exists within these patterns – and it can be supported.”
